The Ghana Rice Inter-Professional Body is a rice value chain organization which has a membership of over 1500 which are predominantly smallholder rice farmers, rice millers, aggregators, marketers and  input dealers.
Rice is a food crop is almost all the time cultivated in locations that retains water or has water in its vicinity. Rice is water loving crop and does well in marshy or waterlogged areas.

 it just happens in Ghana, the locations where this crop can be grown is overtaken by prospective illegal miners locally called Galamseyers. In that the land that can be used to crop rice is what inarguably being used to mine for precious minerals like gold.
